Board of Directors
Lifelong learning requires real leadership
At Conner Prairie, every guest has the opportunity to pursue knowledge and fun in a way that is tailored to them. This pursuit requires strong, dedicated leadership. Our Board of Directors oversees operations and engages community members in supporting the museum. Conner Prairie thanks these individuals who contribute their time and expertise.
Dr. Abu-Salih is the medical director of Community’s pediatric gastroenterology program. He received his medical degree from Jordan University of Science and Technology before returning to the U.S. to complete his residency in pediatrics at the University of Iowa. He practiced general pediatrics for 12 years in Wisconsin before completing fellowship training in pediatric gastroenterology at the University of Michigan in 2011. Dr. Abu-Salih treats pediatric patients from infancy through 18 years of age.
Throughout his professional practice years, he was involved in leadership positions including membership of several hospital boards and chief of medical staff at these hospitals. He has also been heavily involved in volunteer efforts, including in children's sports coaching and also as a board member and, later on, president of the Board of Directors at Al Huda Islamic Center of Indiana (AICI), the largest Islamic non-profit organization in Indiana.
Dr. Abu-Salih is married and has four children, two boys and two girls. He enjoys traveling, soccer, and stamp collecting.
Conner Prairie Foundation
The Conner Prairie Foundation board of directors oversees the management of the museum's endowment and the land and structures of the museum, including the William Conner House.
